Dr Chen studied medicine in the Chinese University of Hong Kong, graduating in 1990.

He started training in Medicine in 1992 in QEH and obtained MRCP(UK) in 1993. He then received further training in both Internal medicine and Hematology in Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Hong Kong and became specialist in Hematology and Hematological Oncology in 1999. He has received overseas training in bone marrow transplantation for 9 months in 1997 in Duke University Medical Center in USA. Besides, Dr Chen also obtained Fellowships in both Hong Kong College of Physicians(FHKCP) and Hong Kong Academy of Medicine(FHKAM in Medicine) in 1998.

Dr Chen is currently the Consultant Hematologist at Asia Cancer and Hematology Center, member of American Society of Hematology and Hong Kong Society of Hematology .He is also Honorary Clinical Assistant Professor in Dept of Medicine and Therapeutics, Chinese University of Hong Kong
